Best brights and cheerful patterns in Madewell's Spring 2012 collection. They're proving again why their clothes are some of my favorites; they make such fun wearable staples with the right amount of freshness.

The week's find is an illustration for Graphic USA, a book that's an alternative travel guide for American cities. Illustration by Dan Blackman about Chicago. See the rest of the illustrations in this series here.
[ Note: Just realized I posted a Friday find on a Wednesday. Ha. My work week and schedule has been all crazy because of the Thanksgiving holiday. ]

John & John is a range of hand cooked potato crisps made in Britain and exported to Germany. They have the coolest potato chip packaging I have seen. And though I can think of a couple of ways I would improve them (the veggie illustration for one), I can appreciate the unique and fresh approach that was taken in designing them. I haven't been able to find the studio who did do the design, so if you know, please fill me in. See images of the full line here.

Neighborhood Studio just updated their online portfolio with so much amazing work. One of my favorite projects of theirs are these apparel designs created for Australian custom motorcyle company, Deus Ex Machina. I wish they came in my size.

A few things on the wishlist at the moment: a tiny brass drop necklace with just a hint of color, a pretty red-orange brocade dress (with amazing, big buttons on the back!), a legendary camera, and homemade comfort food.

I'm so in love with Lab Partners' latest project, California Gold, a series of screen-printed posters depicting California’s natural wonders. They're currently being printed (using metallic ink!) and will be available in their upcoming shop launch. The big horn sheep is my favorite but I kind of want them all.

Stone & Honey's spring collection was full of geometric shapes, so it's no surprise that I loved it all. I own two of the pieces shown above (the ring and necklace) and they just about go with everything possible. Stone & Honey are also featured on Fab for up to 35% off retail through mid-day tomorrow, so get it while you can!

I'm a big admirer of Curtis Jinkins' work and these new prints of his are no exception to that fact. I love the combination of great pattern work and custom type. I can't decide which one I like more. Available over at his shop, Neighborhood Studio, for $50 each.

Drive was probably the best film I have seen this year. Everything just worked together perfectly: the acting, characters, score, storyline... just amazing on every level. This self-initiated poster series done by Cory Schmitz to commemorate the movie is pretty awesome too.

My top two favorite items at Anthropologie right now. Love the texture and colors in these pieces. Would be so good for fall. If only I had more money...

Absolutely love the line, shape, form and color in the series The Bærtling Wannabe, by Swedish photographer Carl Kleiner. The rest of his work is pretty great too. Definitely worth a look.

I pretty much love everything about this jewelry line. Emedemarta makes these triangle necklaces in the most perfect palette, with details painted in the chain. I need them. Not to mention, their product photography is pretty much spot on.

My favorite thing about fall and winter approaching is the layering of clothing and wearing boots, at least in the beginning. The excitement of boots kind of wears off once March rolls around and you are still wearing them. But oh J.Crew, I absolutely love all of your new fall boots and definitely wouldn't mind wearing any of these pairs for six months out of the year. They are so perfectly polished and in the best colors of the season.

So, something super exciting happened over the weekend. On Friday, I picked up my motorcycle! It's just a little Suzuki TU250x, but I already love him, and it's so fun just cruising around the city on this. In time, I'm going to modify parts of the bike, but for the time being, it's just good to get a better knowledge and feeling of being on the bike. Now he just needs a name...

My want of the week is a ladder that leads up to a loft area. I'm enamored by this. It would be so fun to climb that ladder and sit up there and read, with light pouring through the windows. This can be found in the Zig Zag House, designed by David Coleman and located in Yarrow Point, Washington.

Just a quick little update on life things. A lot has happened since I last posted, and I thought some of you might want to know what I have been up to and why the lack of blog updates. Lately, I have been trying to hone in on my cooking skills by making something from scratch every weekend. Two weekends ago it was this curry. I substituted the chicken for pork and made a few small modifications to the recipe and ingredients, but overall, it turned out pretty well. It was fast, easy and tasty. But... the main thing taking up my time has been practicing riding a motorcycle. A lot. There's still a little bit of fear attached but also a sense of thrill and adventure. I love the feeling of being on a motorcycle and I think all of the practice paid off because last weekend, I passed my motorcycle test and now seriously get to look into buying my own. I'm so excited!
