orla kiely + spring/summer 11

I'm totally in love with Orla Kiely's spring/summer clothing collection. It's probably my favorite collection of hers to date. Every piece just has the most perfect modern vintage vibe. That dress in the top right corner is calling my name. Need need need.

weekly want: triceratops

My want of the week is to visit this place. A giant dinosaur? Yes please. This photo is part of the Orla Kiely spring/summer 2011 campaign (a post about the clothes is coming up!).

friday find: feather invitation

This week's find is a pretty, gocco printed feather invitation for a Leifsdottir show during Fashion Week in 2009. The collection was inspired by medieval architecture, graphic prints, and different species of birds. Designed by Lizania Cruz and Alana McCann.

amanda wachob

About a year ago, I found out about Amanda Wachob, a tattoo artist currently working at Daredevil Tattoo in New York City. Her style looks much more like fine art on skin than the conventional style of contemporary tattoos nowadays. I love the look of these; so distinctly her own. A few months ago, I actually contacted her to get a peony tattoo (they have roots in Asian culture and symbolize risk/dare/adventure) but she is booked far into the future. Would still love for that to happen.

weekly want: pallet

My want of the week is a headboard that looks as cool as this one made by Nina Holst. I love the rustic feel it gives to an otherwise modern room.

Branding for Pino, a lifestyle store that sells unique, functional and innovative design objects. The word pino means pile or stack in Finnish and that meaning was taken and used visually in the logo and design of the shop. Such a clever solution. By Bond.

friday find: desert house

This week's find is a shot of the Kaufmann Desert House, a vacation house located in Palm Springs, California that was designed by architect Richard Neutra in 1946.

Cool nautical themed branding done by Turnstyle for Ketch, a high-end women's clothing and accessories boutique, located in Seattle's Maritime Ballard neighborhood. The logo, cards and hangtags were designed to reference the store’s name, location and unique personality.

no rules

This Friday is opening night of No Rules, a group gallery show at Blonde Grizzly. I did three small pieces for it, playing off my interest and fascination in the meanings of everyday objects (these particular ones involving flowers), combined with my love of art deco and geometric patterning. The piece shown above is called Risk, which depicts a peony and symbolizes the meaning of it in tattoo culture: daring, risk-taking and the gambler's devil-may-care approach to life. I'll post pictures of all three pieces at a later date, but if you're in Salt Lake, come see them in person! Opening night is March 18th at 6 p.m. and the show runs through April 8th.

weekly want: water

My want of the week is to go somewhere near the ocean. It still feels reminiscent of winter here and all I want is to be somewhere warm, with water, sand and beach. I absolutely love this photo (makes me think a vacation is about due) but forgot the photographer's name. If anyone knows, please tell me!

feltron + 2010 annual report

When it comes to infographics, Nicholas Felton is probably one of the masters. I'm still kicking myself for not buying his annual report last year, so when the pre-order for his latest report popped up, I promptly purchased it. The 2010 edition is an encapsulation of Felton's father's life, as communicated by the calendars, slides and other artifacts in his possession. It's even printed with a gold foil. Pre-order yours here for $25.

friday find: beige

This week's find is a series of objects styled by color. By Kontor Kontur.

triangular mugs

Being that I am a huge fan of geometric patterning and that triangles are my favorite shape, these mugs are calling my name. Specifically the one in the top left corner. Available at Sonodesign for roughly $11 each.

trash: any color you like

Prettiest trash bags ever. Part of TRASH: anycoloryoulike, a public art project for urban beautification and environmental awareness. The project was developed by Adrian Kondratowicz.

paper arranged neatly

You know what I love? Paper. I love it even more when photographed and arranged in a neat and tidy way. Seems counter-intuitive that something so simple can be so interesting, but it just draws me in.

weekly want: clean lines

My want of the week is a no-frills, clean, streamlined bike. I already have a road bike (that I love!), but I am really attracted to the look of a minimal frame.

mark weaver

Mark Weaver updated his store with new prints and artist proofs today. Love that earth one.

madewell + spring 11

A couple of looks from Madewell's spring collection. I am a complete sucker for stripes and lighter palettes for spring. And seriously, why can't it warm up outside? I want to wear shorts and ride my bike more often. Already sick of wearing boots all the time.

weekly want: laptop sleeve

My want of the week is a clean, well-made, protective laptop sleeve (yup, I just bought a MacBook Pro over the weekend). Anyone know of any good 15" sleeves or cases? I am liking the simplicity of this one by Charbonize.
